The spaceship Altum Spatium had come back after one thousand and nine hundreds years in the sight of the Earth. Deputy Commander Heisel had collected the crow for communications.
«As you know, many terrestrial centuries had passed from our last visit to this planet inhabitated by human beings. History bring us at those distant times, in which the terrestrial civilisation was very poor by the technological point of view, but society was very well organized.
We had interpreted and translated their main language, spoken by the majority of the inhabited planet and spreaded all over the known world by an empire that ruled many peoples and regions. It was called Imperium Romanum.»
The alien’s race specialist added: «And at that time we decided to learn their language and to baptize our spaceship accordingly.»
Heisel went on: «I confirm, and in that occasion we made several researches about the physical appearance of the human race. We had collected many images describing features and behaviour.»
At that point appeared the hologram of the Supreme Commander of the third fleet Expansion to guard the magnetic power, required for any interstellar expedition, stationed on Callisto.
The Commander seemed well informed:
«But for what we know, now the terrestrials had changed their physionomy: our late incursions into their atmosphere had noted important changes in both behavior and physical appearance as Captain Astom has confirmed.»
Astom, the manager of a patrol surveyor just came back from a silent flight over the city of Rome, had declared as follows: «our high sensitive probes have highlighted that actually the physical aspect of human beings has changed: on the front part of the head only eyes result visibles, the rest of the face is blank: instead of the nose and mouth there is a flat variously coloured veil, (probably according to the social role occupied by the individual) that in their idiom they call “mask”.
The dominant colours are white or pale blue. Moreover we noticed that most of them gaze at the screen of a small device that they hold in hand.» Other exploration missions in different places had confirmed such changings.
Deputy Commander Heisel, taking note of these information, concluded that now the languages spoken were many and variously distributed on the terrestrial globe, also the technological progress of the human race had increased a lot to the point of sending rockets and spacecraft to explore the solar system. But a question remained without reply:
How the humans could feed themselves without an opening called “mouth”?
